Day 8
Nakhon Phanom to Udon Thani - Many old friends and Acquaintances here... Ehsaan land of farmers
317kms 5:10hrs of riding

Today we will awaken by the banks of the mighty Mekong river and end it in the provincial city of Udon Thani, which will be our forward operating base for the next 3 nights.Along the way today we will ride through the spectacular Phu Phan National Park and skirt along the edge of the Nong Han Lake. It will be a great days riding ahead with plenty of sightseeing and camera opportunities..

Udon Thani is a city of around 150 000 people and has all the mod cons that we will need during our stay. The city's economy was boosted by the proximity to Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base during the Vietnam War and retains reminders of that time in the form of bars, coffee shops, and hotels. "Udon sort of became like Pattaya when the GIs arrived," said a local architect. “Restaurants serving Western cuisine, hotels and nightclubs sprouted up everywhere to meet their needs. It was an extremely busy city back then”.Reports alleged that a Voice of America relay station in a rural area of Udon Thani Province, Ban Dung District, was a CIA black site.

Our hotel for the next 3 nights is especially well appointed and located ; being right in the middle of the restaurant, cafe , nightlife and entertainment district of the city. You will be able to literally walk out the front lobby of the hotel and have a plethora of choices of restaurants and bars to spend your time and money in. You will be able to unload your bike and not have to reload it again for 2 days as we will be doing day rides out and returning to the hotel for the next 2 days.

ZONTES 368G Adventure Scooter: Setting the Benchmark for Touring and Adventure Scooters

Honda sparked a scooter revolution with the groundbreaking X-ADV in 2016, paving the way for adventure scooters like Peugeot’s XP400, KYMCO’s CV-R5, Aprilia’s SR GT 200, and Bristol’s Maxie 400. This year, ZONTES enters the arena with its impressive 368G adventure scooter, poised not just to compete but to redefine the category entirely. At the heart of the ZONTES 368G beats a robust 368 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, delivering class-leading power figures of 38.8 hp and 40 Nm of torque—surpassing the Peugeot XP400. But the 368G's appeal stretches far beyond just numbers. Engineered for genuine adventure, it is well-equipped to tackle off-road excursions, featuring rugged wire-spoked tubeless wheels (17-inch front and 15-inch rear), adjustable USD forks (41mm with compression and rebound adjustment), and dual rear shocks adjustable for preload and tension with remote reservoirs.
