Day 9
Udon Thani Day ride 1

262 kms 4:23 hrs of actual riding

The first of our “day rides” today and we are heading North up to the Thai / Laos border and riding along it next to the Mekong river which is the border itself. Mixed bag of riding with some highway work as well as provincial roads and a couple of secondary roads as well. Nothing too taxing as this is one of our “days off” and we just want to kick back and unwind a little.

Our first stop will be the spectacular new glass bridge skywalk at Pha Tak Suea wher the views are truly stunning. You will be able to see for miles and miles into Laos from here. If you are scared of heights that a quick few nips out of the hip flask before you head out on the skybridge is probably in order.

Lunch at Nong Kai will be at a superb riverside restaurant with a broad range of foods; Thai, Lao and Western. The setting for lunch is picture perfect with panoramic vistas across the Mekong river to Laos and a cooling breeze to keep you comfortable while you graze.

The afternoon ride back to our Udon Thani hotel base will be leisurely and relaxed as we cruise through the rice fields and rural vistas  and we should arrive back at the hotel around 4pm in time for a late afternoon swim, beer and refresh before we head out for dinner and God only knows what depravities afterwards.

Dinner tonight is at a funky place about a 10 minute stroll from the hotel and there will be various waterholes along the way you can stop at to recover if the trauma of walking that far in one go scares you.
reminds me of Betong Southern Thailand Yala
this is the land of the farmers Ehsaan
nothing beats the roads here, you may not have the 1000 corner but you have scenery
temple like in the movies LOTR
uniqueness is there, that's why it's called udon thani
oprn roads, great friends, lovely people all around
The old craft work is still alive among the elderly
i am jealous of the views here
The lake filled with flowers

ZONTES 368G Adventure Scooter: Setting the Benchmark for Touring and Adventure Scooters

Honda sparked a scooter revolution with the groundbreaking X-ADV in 2016, paving the way for adventure scooters like Peugeot’s XP400, KYMCO’s CV-R5, Aprilia’s SR GT 200, and Bristol’s Maxie 400. This year, ZONTES enters the arena with its impressive 368G adventure scooter, poised not just to compete but to redefine the category entirely. At the heart of the ZONTES 368G beats a robust 368 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, delivering class-leading power figures of 38.8 hp and 40 Nm of torque—surpassing the Peugeot XP400. But the 368G's appeal stretches far beyond just numbers. Engineered for genuine adventure, it is well-equipped to tackle off-road excursions, featuring rugged wire-spoked tubeless wheels (17-inch front and 15-inch rear), adjustable USD forks (41mm with compression and rebound adjustment), and dual rear shocks adjustable for preload and tension with remote reservoirs. An innovative, switchable dual-channel ABS system combined with Spanish-made J.Juan fou...
