When Ego Takes the Wheel

Road Behaviour Civility Malaysia
A hard, factual reflection — not an emotional rant.

The last few days, we’ve seen a harsh side of road culture in Malaysia: more shouting, more abuse, more “I am right” energy — and less thinking. Videos go viral, people pick sides, and the loudest voices feel like the winners.

But here’s a simple question that cuts through the noise: Who caused the blockage in the first place?

Let’s talk facts, not drama

1) The line was not for parking — yet you parked

Yellow lines are not decorations. They exist for safety, visibility, and flow. When you park on a “not-for-parking” line, you are not being clever — you are creating a problem and then acting surprised when the problem explodes.

2) Lorry bays filled with cars — then people blame the lorry

Heavy vehicle bays exist for a reason. When cars take over those spaces “just for five minutes”, those five minutes ripple into:

  • blocked turns
  • narrowed lanes
  • delays and congestion
  • tempers rising and abuse starting

One person’s convenience becomes everyone else’s chaos.

3) Lorries need a wider turning radius — physics, not arrogance

A lorry cannot turn like a small car or motorcycle. That is not attitude. That is geometry and weight. When roads are narrowed by illegal parking, double parking, or “stop for a while” behaviour, you remove the space a lorry must have to turn safely.

People shout: “Why is the lorry blocking the road?”
The road was already blocked — by selfish decisions.

4) Why the rage?

Why the shouting? Why the abuse? Why the viral hero act? Because ego is louder than facts. Because blaming feels easier than accountability. Because some people would rather be noisy than be correct.

5) Greed vs facts

Let’s be honest:

  • Greed: “I want to park here for a while.”
  • Facts: “My action blocks traffic and endangers others.”
  • Emotion: “The lorry is slow.”
  • Reality: “It weighs tonnes and needs space to move safely.”

Bila Ego Menguasai Jalan Raya

Sikap Disiplin Fakta
Versi Bahasa Malaysia — keras, tepat, dan berterus terang.

Beberapa hari kebelakangan ini, kita nampak wajah sebenar sebahagian pengguna jalan raya: kasar, pentingkan diri, cepat melenting, dan malas berfikir. Video tular merata.

Garisan kuning bukan hiasan. Ia wujud untuk keselamatan dan aliran trafik. Bila kamu parkir haram, kamu mencipta masalah — kemudian kamu marah bila jalan jadi sempit. Itu bukan dizalimi. Itu padan muka akibat tindakan sendiri.

2) Parkir lori dipenuhi kereta — kemudian salahkan lori

  • simpang tersumbat
  • laluan jadi sempit
  • lori tersekat dan berisiko langgar kenderaan
  • orang mula menyalak, maki, dan tunjuk samseng

3) Lori perlukan ruang pusingan besar — ini hukum fizik

Lori tidak boleh membelok seperti kereta kecil. Ini bukan soal “driver lori kurang ajar”. Ini soal saiz, berat, dan radius pusingan. Bila kamu sempitkan jalan dengan parkir haram dan double parking, kamu sedang mengundang bahaya.

Orang menjerit: “Kenapa lori block jalan?!”

4) Kenapa cepat naik angin?

5) Tamak lawan fakta

  • Tamak: “Aku nak parkir sini sekejap.”
  • Fakta: “Aku menyusahkan ramai orang dan membahayakan pengguna lain.”
  • Emosi: “Kenapa lori lambat?”
